When we are cruzin the strip, Love Freo loves listening to The Edge radio station, which is broadcast from Fremantle on 88fm.  There isn’t a huge choice of non-commercial radio in this world so it’s great that an independent station operates in our lil’ ol’ town. They play dance music mostly, by which I mean housey beats, not Salsa or Ballroom, and it’s a good, eclectic mix of tunes from different periods. I imagine they have a small but loyal following, as the club scene in WA isn’t exactly huge, but I’ve heard some of the out-and-out classics that take me back to sweaty nights under thumping railway arches in deepest darkest South London. Word.

Their broadcast area seems to be confined to Fremantle, which means if you’re as far away as Cottesloe you might struggle to hear them. I also have problems picking them up in the Blonde’s Festiva, although I get them clear as a whistle in my truck. I couldn’t glean much info about them from their website, and the girl at Munchies didn’t know much about them either, but if you go down to Munchies Café in Fremantle you can at least pick up one of their flash bright orange new car stickers.

Their website is at www.theedge88.com.au

Munchies is at 2 Beach Street, Fremantle. The nice Canadian couple there knocked together a great flat white, the food looked good too, and I love their green and black branding: nice when a small place makes a real effort with such things. Food review coming soon I guess.
