Hovercraft Speed Machine
Love Freo was lucky enough to go out on on one of Fremantle Sea Rescue’s boats today while they were acting as escort to one of Fremantle’s more eccentric engineering projects.
Sea Horse is a custom built 30 seater passenger hovercraft currently being tested out of Fishing Boat Harbour.
Its website claims it to be… ‘arguably, the most advanced open ocean 30 passenger hovercraft available today’. I don’t know why you would start any sales statement with arguably. Well, in this case, I do. Because arguably it isn’t the most advanced hovercraft available. In doesn’t really go very fast, or at all, really. Which is why the pictures show it in mostly a stationary attitude. But it is quite fun to look at.

One of the men involved told me that the fan has eight blades, all with variable pitch control. If that makes you as exited as it makes me, but you don’t have a need for a hovercraft, maybe you would consider another product from the same company: the Hoverflight 90, which goes into production in 2010.
